Cloaking allows ships to stay hidden from other ships. In order to do this, they use a resource known as tetryon radiation. You'll get this radiation from a daily chest once you acquire a cloaking device. These are seperate from the ships themselves, and can be purchased in the faction store. While you can have more than 200 Tetryons, if you are over 200 then you will no longer get the daily chest.

To cloak your ship, there is an icon on the upper right corner of the ship frame you can click.

Once you click on it, you see the duration of your cloak, how many tetryons you have total, and how many it will cost.

Cloaking Dailies

Once you acquire a cloak, you will have two dailies to do for cloaking. The first one is to kill any ship while cloaked. The second is to kill 3 ships of the same level or higher than your current Operations level. These reward tetryon radiation, which can be spent on specific research high in the Galaxy Tree.

You can see all the research has the icon for the tetryon radiation in the upper left corner. The Hull armor and shielding applies to all you ships, whether they are cloaked or not, and so are likely the most useful research in this part of the tree.
